Recycling bins

PAGE IN DRAFT - TO BE APPROVED

Households with wheelie bin collections have a 240-litre wheelie bin with a green lid for recycling.

You can put all your dry recycling in this bin, including:

  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Paper and card
  • Cardboard boxes and packaging
  • Metal tins (including empty aerosols), cans, bottle tops, lids and foil
  • Plastic bottles, tops, pots, tubs and trays
  • Food and drink cartons (including Tetra Paks).

Please ensure your recycling is clean, to avoid contaminating other items, kept loose and not in bags.

If your bin is full, we will collect flattened cardboard placed neatly next to your bin.

Putting your bin out

From 12 October 2026, we will collect recycling every other week. View your waste collection day.

Put your bin out by 7am on your collection day and leave it out until 4pm or until we have emptied it.

Leave the bin at the edge of your property, next to the road or your agreed collection point.

Ensure your bin is not overflowing and the lid is closed

REMEMBER: Different vehicles will collect your wheelie bins and food waste at different times of the day, and times may change from week to week.

  • Let us know if there is a fault or problem and you need to order a new recycling wheelie bin (link when available)
  • If you are unable to put your bin out for collection and return it afterwards due to health or mobility reasons, you can apply for an assisted collection.
  • Report a missed collection.

Green reusable recycling bags

Green reusable recycling bags should no longer be used for your recycling from 12 October 2026. After this date:

  • You can keep your bag and reuse it
  • Alternatively, we will collect unwanted bags for recycling from early 2027. We will provide further details nearer the time.
