You may use communal bins if you live:
- In a block of flats
- In a flat above a shop
- In communal home (house of multiple occupation)
Most sites have recycling and general waste bins, but it may depend on the space available.
Bins are emptied once a week.
We are working with landowners to provide food waste bins in the future.
Recycling bins
Please ensure your recycling is clean, to avoid contamination, loose and not in bags.
You can put all your dry recycling in these bins, including:
- Glass bottles and jars
- Paper and card
- Cardboard boxes and packaging
- Metal tins (including empty aerosols), cans, bottle tops, lids and foil
- Plastic bottles, tops, pots, tubs and trays
- Food and drink cartons (including Tetra Paks).
General waste bins
Your waste should be tied securely in bags. This bin is only for items that cannot be recycled. This includes:
- Nappies, sanitary products
- Tissues and wet wipes
- Pet waste and cat litter
- Plastic bags, wrapping and clear film
- Polystyrene, bubble wrap and foam packaging
- Crockery, ceramics and other types of glass, including window glass, perfume bottles, and Pyrex
- Dust, vacuum contents and sweeping waste
- Toothbrushes, plastic toys and non-recyclable plastics
- Fireplace, stove and BBQ ashes - these must be cold and bagged
- Food waste
