Weekly food waste collections will begin in New Ash Green on Tuesday 28 April 2026.
Food waste will be collected in dedicated vehicles, separately to your waste and recycling.
To operate the food waste service safely and consistently, we are not able to carry food waste caddies over long distances or collect from individual properties where access is limited.
Instead, food waste caddies should be presented at accessible locations close to the road, where our vehicles can safely stop and our crews can collect them. Many residents already present their waste and recycling in this way.
Nothing is changing for your waste and recycling collections. Please continue to present your waste and recycling at your usual location.
What you need to do
- Mark your caddy with your house number
- Place your food waste caddy within one of the blue highlighted collection areas on the maps below
- Choose a location that is visible to our crews and:
- less than 10 metres from the road
- safe and easy for our crews to access
- does not obstruct paths, roads or access
- Please collect your caddy once it's been emptied.
If possible, work with your neighbours or your resident society to agree suitable, shared locations.
Caddies presented in locations that are not accessible to our vehicles or crews may not be collected.

Why we are using collection areas?
We have identified collection areas across New Ash Green and shared these with the bew Ash Green - Village Association and resident societies in advance of the new service.
The intention was that suitable collection points within these areas would be agreed locally, taking account of land ownership and practical arrangements.
As these locations have not yet been formally confirmed, we will, for the time being, collect from the blue highlighted collection areas shown on our maps, so that the food waste service can begin on time as planned, using locations that are accessible to our vehicles and crews.
