Otford Parish Council By-Election – Thursday 23 July 2026

Electoral registration, postal and proxy votes

A by-election has been called to fill three vacancies on Otford Parish Council.

If the by-election is contested the poll is scheduled to take place on Thursday 23 July 2026.

To vote in this by-election, residents of Otford Parish Council must be registered to vote by no later than midnight on Tuesday 7 July 2026. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 8 July 2026. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

If you wish to cancel or amend an existing postal vote, or cancel or amend an existing proxy vote, the deadline for doing so is 5pm on Wednesday 8 July 2026.

Postal votes will be sent out from 10 July 2026.

New applications for a proxy vote (for someone else to vote on your behalf) must be completed by 5pm on Wednesday 15 July 2026. Some applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote.

Nominations

For candidates wishing to stand in the by-election, nominations can be submitted to Reception Meeting Room 2, Sevenoaks District Council Offices, between 10am and 4pm from Friday 19 June to Friday 26 June (weekdays only).

Completed nominations must be submitted no later than 4pm on Friday 26 June.

Whilst appointments are not compulsory, it would be helpful to ensure that processing your nomination is not delayed.

 

Candidates and Agents Briefing

A short briefing will be held to provide further information about the by-election for nominated candidates.

The Briefing will be held online at 6pm on Tuesday 30 June and joining instructions will be issued shortly after nominations have closed.

 

Election Notices

Notice of Election – 18 June 2026

If the election is contested:

The Statement of Persons Nominated will be published by 4pm on Monday 29 June 2026.

The Notice of Poll and Situation of Polling Stations will be published no later than Wednesday 15 July.
