We are proposing to build a new hotel in Swanley to support local businesses and the economy, including the creation of new jobs.
Our early proposals would see the construction of a mid-range hotel, with up to 110 rooms and a restaurant and bar, at Bevan Place.
Once open, the hotel would support local businesses by bringing in visitors to the town and supporting the wider tourism and visitor economy. At least 21 full-time hotel jobs would be created.
Independent studies have identified a gap in the local market for a mid-range hotel. Major hotel brands, who would manage the hotel on our behalf, have already shown interest in the proposal.
Subject to approvals, the hotel could be operational by December 2028.
The total project costs are estimated to be £18.5 million.
We are proposing to ask residents for their views on the initial hotel designs in early 2026, with a planning application submitted later in the year when you can have another say on the proposal.
Bevan Place was home to Swanley Working Men’s Club before it closed permanently. The land was purchased by us in 2015 as part of our plans to regenerate the southern gateway to Swanley. We have already built the Meeting Point business hub and the Elizabeth House affordable housing scheme in the same area.
This is not the first time we have built a hotel. We constructed a hotel on a former Council-owned car park close to Sevenoaks rail station in 2018. The hotel is run by Premier Inn on a long-term lease.
