Searching for your lost dog

  • Lost dogs may be taken to a vet by the person who found it. Contact vets in your local area or the area where it was lost
  • Lost dogs can cross into neighbouring areas so contact other nearby councils or the council in the area where the dog was lost
  • Social media or online neighbourhood groups can help. Include a clear, up-to-date photo, where and when your dog was last seen and any unique features. Don’t include your phone number or personal contact details, instead communicate over socal media or the online digital group. If someone has found your dog, ask for a photo or microchip confirmation before you meet with them. Meet in a public place or with someone accompanying you.

If we find your dog

  • If your dog is microchipped, we will contact you as soon as possible.
  • Dogs are kept for seven days. After this, they may be rehomed.
  • Reclaim fees apply. These will cover our collection and kennelling costs.
