Property Disposals and Community Asset Transfers

Property disposal policy

We dispose of surplus and under used land and assets at the best value.

Our Disposals Policy supports compliance with regulations and provides a methodical process for review, which will assist decision makers as detailed in our Constitution. The policy outlines the regulatory and governance requirements and documents the detailed process that must be followed.

Community Asset Transfer

Not-for-profit community organisations, including charities or town and parish councils, can apply to lease or buy property and use it to help the community. This is called a community asset transfer.

If it's a site we already use or something we've bought for investment, you may not be able to apply for it. Our role to determine whether an asset is deemed surplus and may be released for community asset transfer or not.

We will be running two community asset transfer application rounds in 2025/26. Parish and town councils and other interested parties will be able to apply by completing an Expression of Interest form.

If the Expression of Interest is progressed, the interested party will be invited to submit an application.
