A Neighbourhood Priorities Statement (NPS) allows parish councils, town councils, neighbourhood forums and local communities to identify the issues and priorities that matter most in their area. It provides locally specific evidence and community views that can help inform planning policy and decision-making.
We welcome the submission of Neighbourhood Priorities Statements. Submitted statements will be published and recorded as part of the evidence and engagement material used to support the preparation of planning policy documents, including the emerging Local Plan.
Neighbourhood Priorities Statements are prepared independently by parish councils, town councils or neighbourhood forums. Sevenoaks District Council does not review, verify, assess or endorse the content of submitted statements. Submission does not mean the Council agrees with, supports or will incorporate any specific proposal, policy position or site identified within a statement.
The Council will consider the issues raised in a Neighbourhood Priorities Statement alongside other evidence, consultation responses and relevant planning considerations when preparing planning policy documents. The weight given to any matters raised will depend on their relevance, supporting evidence and consistency with national and local planning policy.
