If you are a new candidate wanting to apply to become a Hackney Carriage, Private Hire, or Dual Driver with Sevenoaks District Council you will need to:
- have passed the our Knowledge Test and the EQUO taxi driver test
- have held a full UK driving licence (or acceptable non-UK licence) for one year
- have the right to work in the UK
- take a taxi driving standard assessment
- pass a Group II Medical
- pass enhanced criminal background checks
All applications for a new licence or licence renewals will automatically be checked on the national register of revocations and refusals (NR3). You can find out more information on our NR3 page.
View our Taxi and Private Hire Licensing fees and charges. The fee for your licence will be for three years (or for a shorter period of time if your right to work in the UK expires before this time).
Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the relevant Guidance and Policies before applying.
Your licence will need to be renewed BEFORE it expires.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
It is a Policy requirement that all Sevenoaks District Council Licensed Drivers register with the DBS Update Service. Further information on this is covered in our Guidance
