Playground re-opened in Swanley!

Published: Monday, 14th September 2026

On Thursday 10 September 2026, Sevenoaks District Council reopened the newly renovated play area in Cherry Avenue in Swanley.

The £100k renovations, which were funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Sevenoaks District Council and Swanley Town Council, include modern play apparatus such as swings, slides, hopscotch, balance ropes and more. There are also new fences and gates, accessible pathways and sensory panels.

The playground is aimed at children under 12, and has over 70 features, most of which were chosen following consultation with the local community.

Sevenoaks District Council Cabinet Member for Cleaner and Greener, Cllr Irene Roy says:

“We were excited to re-open Cherry Avenue Playground last week!

“Thanks to the generous grant from the National Lottery, we were able to remove the previously well-used units that had come to the end of their working life and replace them with brand new, accessible play equipment.

“As local residents helped us shape the new playground, we expect it to be very popular and well used.”

Swanley Town Council’s Chief Executive Officer Ryan Hayman added “A big thank you goes to the team at Sevenoaks District Council who helped get this project over the line.

“KOMPAN has done a fantastic job delivering their playground upgrade in Swanley, turning each one around with great care and efficiency.”

National Lottery players raise over £32 million a week for good causes across the UK. Thanks to them, The National Lottery Community Fund distributes over £600 million a year through over 13,000 grants. The funder plans to invest over £4 billion of funding into communities by 2030. It supports projects across the whole of the UK to turn their truly life-changing ideas into reality.
