Bradbourne Lakes Summer Festival success!

Published: Wednesday, 15th July 2026

Last Saturday (11 July 2026), hundreds of visitors attended the free Bradbourne Re-Bourne Summer Festival.

Cllr Irene Roy, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Cleaner and Greener, began proceedings with a welcome speech.

Local historian and architectural expert, Jonathan Fenner, led a guided walking tour and there was a ‘Build your own model raft’ workshop.

Cllr Victoria Granville, the Mayor of Sevenoaks Town Council, launched the Bradbourne Re-bourne time capsule initiative to celebrate the rejuvenation of the lakes. In the coming months, the community and project partners will have the opportunity to fill the capsule with items that capture how the lakes look today before it is buried in the park for future generations to uncover.

Young children enjoyed the bouncy castle, inflatable bowling, crafts with the South-East River Trust and a magician. West Kent Mind and the Crowborough Model Boat Club also supported the festival.

The event was also an opportunity to find out about the plans to improve the lakes using a £2.1 million grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Cllr Irene Roy says: “It was wonderful to be able to put on another Bradbourne Re-Bourne Summer Festival to celebrate the rejuvenation of the much-loved ornamental lakes and parkland in the heart of Sevenoaks.

“The afternoon was well attended by families and the community wishing to find out about this major improvement project.

“The walks and talks were both fun and informative, and there were lots of exciting activities for children.”

The Bradbourne Lakes Summer Festival was funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Bradbourne Re-bourne project.
