Sevenoaks District Council is deeply saddened by the passing of Sevenoaks Independent Councillor, Darren Kitchener.
Darren served on the District Council for more than a decade and was known for his kindness and compassion.
He was also an ever-present voice on Hextable Parish Council since its formation in 2008.
He was well liked and respected by other Councillors and his passing is a great loss to the Council and the residents he worked so hard to represent.
Darren passed away on Wednesday 12 November 2025.
Sevenoaks District Council Chairman, Cllr Lynda Harrison says: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of a truly remarkable Councillor, whose kindness, integrity, and unwavering dedication made a lasting mark on our community. He served not for recognition, but from a genuine desire to help others and create a better future for everyone around him.
“The Council passes on its sincere condolences to Darren’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
A minute’s silence will be held for Darren at the start of the Council meeting tonight (Tuesday 18 November).
