Chairman pays tribute to The Duchess of Kent

Sevenoaks District Council Chairman, Cllr Lynda Harrison, has expressed her sadness at the passing of The Duchess of Kent on Friday 5 September 2025.

Cllr Lynda Harrison, says: “This is a sad time for Kent and the nation. The Duchess of Kent served her country with distinction, working hard away from the media glare to support young people and make a positive difference for hundreds of school children through her love of music. Her charity work was inspiring, and she did much to tackle the stigma around mental health.

“On behalf of our residents, I would like to express my condolences to the family of the Duchess of Kent at this difficult time."

Sevenoaks District Council flew the Union Flag at half-mast on Friday 5 September 2025 as a mark of respect for the Duchess of Kent.
