Sevenoaks District Council is considering leasing twelve of its sites for Parcel Locker Systems.
Parcel lockers are an easy, convenient way to drop off, return or pick up parcels, seven days a week. They are lockable storage boxes where packages can be left securely for collection by carriers and delivery companies.
The Council is planning a tender exercise and will invite bids from providers to operate the lockers.
If successful, the lockers will be placed in convenient locations across Sevenoaks, Edenbridge, Swanley and Westerham.
The Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance and Investments, Cllr Kevin Maskell, says: “This is a great opportunity to utilise some of our land to provide more convenient services for our residents. At the same time, it will generate a new revenue source that the Council can invest in services used by our communities. It also has environmental advantages as it means less trips for delivery drivers. It’s a win-win for everyone.
“Research has revealed that the demand for lockers throughout the country is high and expected to grow considerably. If successful, the Council may look to place more around the District.”
The proposal will be considered by the Council’s Improvement and Innovation Advisory on 3 June 2025 and the Finance and Investment Advisory Committee on 10 June 2025. A decision will be made by the Council’s Cabinet on 15 July 2025.
