Last Friday (9 May 2025), over 150 people came together at an outdoor concert at St Clere’s Estate in Kemsing to celebrate VE Day 80.
The free event was organised by Sevenoaks District Council and included performances from D'Vine Singers, Sounds Familiar and Nouveau Lounge.
Guests were also treated to a delicious afternoon tea of cakes, sandwiches and scones.
Sevenoaks District Council Cabinet member for People and Places, Cllr Lesley Dyball, says: “It was a fantastic afternoon to remember those who fought for our freedom in World War II.
“The nostalgic celebration honoured the spirit of victory, remembrance and community, and many guests dressed in 1940s outfits which gave it a vintage feel.”
The Council held several other events throughout week to celebrate VE Day, including a tea dance in Edenbridge and 1940s cooking classes in Sevenoaks and Swanley.
