Council supports Great British Spring Clean!

Published: Friday, 10th March 2023

Sevenoaks District Council has pledged its support for this year’s Great British Spring Clean, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The campaign, which runs from 17 March to 2 April 2023, will see up to hundreds of thousands of people taking action to clean up streets, parks and beaches across the country.

Sevenoaks District Council is encouraging residents to take part or arrange a clean-up event during campaign. The Council is offering to loan litter pickers and sacks to people wishing to organise an event and will also collect the sacks once finished.

The Council will also be lending equipment to ‘Clean Up Sevenoaks District’, a weekend long event on 25 and 26 March which collected over 600 sacks of refuse last year.

Residents and community groups who would like to organise a clean-up event in the Sevenoaks District should email recycling@sevenoaks.gov.uk to arrange support. Resources are limited so people wishing to organise an event should enquire as early as possible.

Sevenoaks District Council’s Countryside Manager, David Crouch, says: “We’re so pleased to be supporting this year’s Great British Spring Clean and we hope many residents will take part in either the ‘Clean-Up Sevenoaks District’ weekend event or organise their own litter pick.

“We are very lucky to live and work in a beautiful part of the country and it’s great to see so many people take pride in where they live.”
