An alder tree that formed part of a spectacular sculpture outside of Buckingham Palace during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations has been planted in the grounds of Bradbourne Lakes.
The alder was planted on 31 January by Sevenoaks District Council Chairman, Cllr Avril Hunter, and The Lady Colgrain, the Lord-Lieutenant of Kent.
The tree originally formed part of the ‘Tree of Trees’, a stunning 21-metre sculpture featuring 350 native trees. The sculpture stood outside Buckingham Palace as part of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations last June.
The ‘Tree of Trees’ were gifted to selected community groups. The Lady Colgrain nominated the Council to receive one of the 350 prized plants.
Council Chairman, Cllr Avril Hunter, says: “We are so pleased this special specimen tree was gifted to the residents of the Sevenoaks District, thanks to the work of the Lady Colgrain.
“It will be a reminder for generations to come of the respect and affection held by so many for our former sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II.”
