FREE family nature trails

Five, free eco-trails are being set up across the District so families can enjoy local wildlife and win a fabulous an eco-hamper.

The trails will be set up between 22 July to 4 September by Sevenoaks District Council and The North West Kent Countryside Partnership in Crockham Hill Commons, Farningham Woods, Hosey Commons, Oxenhill Shaw and Shoreham Woods. They’ll explore some beautiful nature spots and be filled with fun facts and quizzes along the way.

The trails are self-guided and easy to follow, all participants need to do is turn up and have fun.

Everyone who takes part in a trail can win one of five eco-hampers that includes a reusable, patterned shopping bag, a bamboo hot drinks cup, a pack of wild seed flowers and lots more. Participants need to simply tag the Council in their favourite wildlife photo from the trail on Facebook using @SevenoaksDC. All entries will be put in a prize draw with the winners picked at random from Monday 5 September 2022.

Cabinet Member for Cleaner and Greener, Cllr Margot McArthur says: “We are so lucky to have amazing wildlife spots right on our doorstep and these fun trails are a great way to see them.

“As part of our Net Zero ambitions, we want to give people, especially children, a better understanding of the important role that nature and biodiversity play in looking after our planet. We also want to encourage residents to enjoy our outdoor spaces as much as possible.

“The trails and are another free activity we are making available to families during the school summer holidays.”
