Gardeners in the District can plant themselves a great deal

Residents looking to get their gardens in shape this spring can take advantage of a blooming good deal, as Sevenoaks District Council looks to get to the root of waste removal.

The Council is offering its hugely popular, fortnightly Garden Waste Collection Service for just £45 for 12 months for a large bin or £30 for a smaller bin, making it easy for residents to dispose of their garden waste.

The scheme is flourishing, with a record 5,000 tonnes of compostable garden waste collected since April – the weight of 25 blue whales.

Twenty-five single-use garden waste sacks are also available for just £14.

Cllr Matthew Dickins, Cabinet Member for Direct and Trading Services, says: "As garden waste shouldn't be placed in the black of clear sacks, we're pleased to offer a variety of convenient ways to dispose of it.

"With summer round the corner and bins or sacks to suit all garden sizes, why not take this opportunity to join the thousands of residents who take advantage of our popular garden waste service."
