Sevenoaks District Local Plan – Regulation 18 Consultation 2025
We received more than 28,000 comments from more than 5,000 residents and organisations. A total of 1,150 people also attended one of our 30 face-to-face ‘Pop-up’ sessions that took place at 10 locations across the District where our staff were on hand to answer questions.
The consultation report was considred by our Development & Infrastructure Advisory Committee on 5 March 2026.
All the comments were analysed and considered. A final draft of the Local Plan wil be published in summer 2026 for further public comments (formally known as the Regulation 19 Publication). The revised Local Plan will be submitted to Government for examination by the end of 2026.

Local Plan 2040 (Part 2) 2023/24
Our Plan 2040 Regulation 18 Part 2 consultation took place from November 2023 to January 2024.
We received a large number of responses.
A summary report of the consultation was presented to our Development and Conservation Advisory Committee on 26 March 2024.

Local Plan 2040 (Part 1) 2022/23
Our Local Plan consultation from November 2022 to January 2023 focused on making the best use of land within our urban areas (i.e. outside of the Green Belt), including building at higher densities and on brownfield sites.
However, we knew that utilising existing built up areas alone would not meet the District’s housing needs, including the need for more affordable homes. To meet the District’s housing needs (at that time it was 712 new homes) to be built each year up to 2040.
