Architects The Royal Institute of British Architects is a world-wide organisation, with more than 32,000 members in over 100 countries. It is a registered charity, whose aims are 'The advancement of architecture and the promotion of the acquirement of the knowledge of the arts and sciences connected therewith'.
The RIBA provides support and guidance to its membership and regulates their conduct.
Building for Life Building for Life is a commitment to the quality of new homes made by three partners:
- The house-building industry, represented by the House Builders Federation.
- The government, represented by the Commission for Architecture
- The Built Environment (CABE) and the campaigners, represented by the Civic Trust.

Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) CPRE campaign about issues facing our countryside and campaign for it to be protected and enhanced for the benefit of everyone.
Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) is the Government's advisor on and the champion for architecture in England. It's function is to promote high standards in the design of buildings and the spaces between them.
English Heritage English Heritage is the Government's advisor for Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas. The website contains details of all Listed Buildings within the area.
High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)The High Weald AONB is a Government designation to conserve and enhance areas of precious countryside. The designation covers much of Sussex and parts of Kent and Surrey.
Kent Architecture Centre The Kent Architecture Centre(AC) makes a contribution to the urban renaissance of the South East Region through action to improve both the built environment and the quality of life of residents in the region's urban areas.
Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) The Kent Downs AONB is a Government designation to conserve and enhance areas of precious countryside. The designation covers a quarter of Kent from the White Cliffs of Dover to the London and Surrey borders.
National Planning Casework Unit The National Planning Casework Unit was set up in March 2011 to process planning casework (previously handled by the Government Office Network) on behalf of the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
Planning Aid South East Planning aid is a free, voluntary service offering independent professional advice and help on planning issues. The service offered has recently been greatly increased by additional government grants and funding.

Planning Portal The Planning Portal provides a comprehensive planning service including government legislation, guidance notes, links to further information and the ability to submit applications on line and in some cases view local authorities Development Plans and maps.
Royal Town Planning Institute The Royal Town Plannign Institute (RTPI) exists to advance the science and art of town planning for the benefit of the public. Town planning involves much more than planning towns, and is often referred to simply as 'planning'. The RTPI is a membership organisation, and a registered charity.
Most of its members are fully qualified professional planners. Nearly two thirds work as planning officers for local councils. Others work for central government, for property developers and other organisations with significant landholdings.
South East England Development Agency - SEEDA South East England Development Agency is one of the nine regional development agencies created by the Government in the UK.
It is responsible for:
- Promoting the south east as a world class location for investment
- The economic development of the region
- Improving the skills and training of our workforce
- Enhancing the competitiveness, innovation and technology transfer
- The sustainable regeneration of urban and rural area
- Improving links between universities, research centre and businesses
- Protecting and enhancing the region's environmental heritage
SEEDA works closely with all local authorities including Sevenoaks District Council.
Town and Country Planning Association The purpose of the Town and Country Planning Association is to promote and improve the art and science of town and country planning and to promote, encourage and assist in all other arts and sciences connected to it.
