The race is on! Run, walk or push against dementia 2019 is fast approaching

Published: Tuesday, 2nd April 2019

It’s not long until Run, walk or push against dementia returns for 2019 and spaces are filling up quickly.

There’s still time to sign up to the event which takes place on Sunday 12 May 2019 in the beautiful Knole Park, Sevenoaks. Participants can choose from a timed 3, 5 or 10k course suitable for parents with pushchairs through to seasoned runners. Places are going faster than any previous years with more than half the slots taken, so those wishing to take part are being encouraged to register quickly.

All the money raised goes to the Sevenoaks Area Dementia Friendly Community Forum. Last year nearly £7,000 was raised, which is currently funding the Knole Forget-Me-Not Café and well as Forget-Me-Not Cafes in Chipstead, Edenbridge and Westerham, the Forget-Me-Notes singing group and dementia friendly cinema screenings.

Symone Salwan, co-chair of the Sevenoaks Area Dementia Friendly Community Forum, says: "Run, walk or push is our major fundraising event but it does so much more than that – it raises awareness of dementia in our area. It enables individuals, families and groups to jointly exercise in beautiful surroundings and brings together many partners and volunteers from the community to ensure the event runs smoothly and brings joy."
