Residents are being urged to look out for their electoral registration canvass form that will be arriving from late August by post or early September by email.

The yearly exercise, carried out by Sevenoaks District Council, ensures the electoral register is up-to-date and gives an opportunity for residents who are not registered or whose details have changed to make sure they can vote in elections or referendums.

Dr Pav Ramewal, Chief Executive and Electoral Registration Officer at Sevenoaks District Council says:

“The Electoral Registration Annual Canvass is really important as it makes sure your details are correct and that no one misses out on their chance to vote in local or general elections.

“For the first time, we are sending out some Annual Canvass forms by email. If we do not hold an email address for a property, the form will come in the post as usual.”

“It is really important to read the email or form carefully and respond accordingly. The best way to tell us is online.

“If you know you are not registered to vote, you can do it quickly online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, or call us and we’ll send you an application form in the post.”
