Council flies the flag in support of Armed Forces Day

Today (Monday 23 June 2025), Sevenoaks Sea Cadets, local veterans and school children joined Cllr Lynda Harrison, the Council’s Chairman, for this year’s event marking Armed Forces Day.

The event outside at Sevenoaks District Council’s offices included readings and prayers from Reverend Sarah Corry thanking the nation’s serving troops, service families and veterans before the Sevenoaks Sea Cadets raised the Armed Forces Flag at 10.30am.

Guests included children from Lady Boswell’s Primary School, Lord Colgrain, Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, the Royal British Legion, civic dignitaries, and District Councillors and staff.

The Council’s Chairman, Cllr Lynda Harrison, says: “Our Armed Forces doing an amazing job keeping us and other around the globe safe. Today gives us the chance to show our appreciation for the men and women who have and continue to sacrifice for our benefit. I want to say a big thank you to our local veterans, Royal British legion, Westerham Sea Cadets, and local primary school children who came out in support of this year’s event.

The flag raising was the start of this year’s Armed Forces Day that takes place on Saturday 28 June 2025.
