Help us make ‘Better Together’ even better!

Published: Tuesday, 1st April 2025

Sevenoaks District Council is asking residents how it could further improve the ‘Better Together’ scheme to support more people into volunteering and community activities.

Better Together began in 2022. Since then, it has helped communities to set up new initiatives and events as well as funding local projects.

Recent Better Together work has included an allotment scheme in Crockenhill and a crowdfunding campaign for solar panels at Sevenoaks Indoor Bowls Club.

The Council is now running a survey asking what more it could do to improve Better Together.

The Better Together survey opened on 1 April 2025 and will close at midnight on Tuesday 13 May 2025.

To take part in the survey, visit www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/bettertogether.

Everyone who completes the survey can enter a free prize draw to win a £50 shopping voucher. Terms and conditions apply, which are available on the Council’s website.

Cllr Lesley Dyball, the Council’s Cabinet Member for People and Places, says: “We’re incredibly proud of Better Together. It has supported dozens of new and existing community initiatives that improve the quality of life for our residents.

“We want Better Together to support even more people. So we’re keen to hear from as many residents as possible. As a small thank you for their time, everyone who takes the survey can enter a free prize draw.”

Better Together (www.bettertogethercommunity.org.uk) is a community hub run by Sevenoaks District Council.

It provides local people with the tools and support they need to set up their own community initiatives. This includes advice on funding, recruiting volunteers, help with venues, event organisation, business advice, training, networking and more. Grants are also available.

Better Together is also a place where voluntary and community groups can promote their work by adding their details to the Better Together website and where residents can find out what’s going on in their area.

Better Together is funded by the UK Government.
