This has been a challenging year for many, coming out of the pandemic and getting back to some form of normality. We also suffered the loss of our much loved sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II.
During the last six months, since becoming Chairman, my husband Allan and I have met so many inspiring volunteers. Without these dedicated, hardworking people, so much good work wouldn’t happen. Many of these volunteers will be working over the festive season along with emergency service workers, nurses, doctors, care staff and Sevenoaks District Council staff in our CCTV, waste collection and other teams. My thanks go to them all.
We mustn’t forget however that there will be people who will be alone this Christmas and those for whom the season is a difficult time. My thoughts go out to them.
We are now in the new Carolean era and I hope that next year, the cost of living crisis will ease and life will become a little easier for everyone.
To everyone in the Sevenoaks District, my husband and I send our best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Cllr Avril Hunter
