Apply for a parking bay suspension

Terms and Conditions

We can consider applications to suspend or partly suspend bays or spaces for specific reasons including:

  • building works or skips
  • domestic removals
  • weddings
  • funerals
  • special events
  • roadworks
  • helping the flow and movement of traffic
  • utility works

Parking suspensions can only be issued for areas where marked parking bays are present.

The area is restricted to allow the activity to be carried out. Suspension signs are put up to warn motorists of the duration and reason for the suspension.

It is an offence to park within a suspended bay and penalty notices can be issued.

Applications must be received through the appropriate application form, and must be received no later than 10 working days before the required start date.

We are unable to process incomplete applications or those received within 10 working days of the proposed suspension date.

Amendments will only be agreed on the basis that the notification period can still be achieved.

Payment must be made in advance of the suspension without exception and must be received a minimum of eight clear working days before you need the suspension to start.

Refunds will not be processed for applications beyond the approval stage.

Applications to extend an existing suspension or make amendments must be submitted as a new suspension.

As it is an offence to park in a suspended bay or space, any unauthorised vehicles seen by our Civil Enforcement Officers will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice, however these vehicles will not be removed.

Traffic cones will only be arranged to mark out the suspended bays on the first day of the suspension. Our traffic cones will be scheduled to be picked up the same day at any given time. Once collected, it is the responsibility of the applicant to arrange sufficient barricades or cones for the works scheduled.

All signs and covers will be removed upon expiry of the suspension.
