Sevenoaks District Wildlife Project

We’re encouraging our residents to get more involved with local wildlife and learn how to embrace nature indoors and outdoors.

Our aim is to give people a better understanding of the important role that nature and biodiversity play in looking after our planet. We also want to encourage residents to use and learn about our outdoor spaces as much as possible.

Eco-Trails

Between 22 July and 4 September, we’re inviting families to take part in our eco-trails across the District. Together with the North West Kent Countryside Partnership, we’ve set up the walks around some beautiful nature spots and to make it extra enjoyable, we’ve created quizzes and fun facts for you to do along the way.

If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning a hamper of eco-goodies, post your favourite wildlife photo from your trail on Facebook and tag us in it using @sevenoaksdc. Five winners will be picked at random from Monday 5 September. T&Cs apply.

The hamper comes in a reusable tote shopping bag and includes:

A reusable, patterned shopping bag,

A Hippo water saver for cisterns,

A pack of bamboo toothbrushes,

A reusable bamboo hot drinks cup,

A loofah sponge,

A packet of UK native wildflower seeds.

When you arrive at each location, you’ll see signs near the entrance for the Eco-Trail, simply follow the arrows to begin. The trails are self-guided so you can take each one at your own pace and soak up the nature around you.

The trails will be taking place in the following locations:

Crockham Hill Common – begins at the Crockham Hill Common car park - Westerham TN16 1PR

Farningham Woods - begins at the Calfstock Lane car park

Hosey Common –Begins at Hosey Common Road car park - Westerham TN16 1PL

Oxenhill Woods - begins at the Nightingale Road car park in Kemsing

Shoreham Woods - begins at the Nightingale Road car park in Kemsing
