Residents urged to prepare for their Coronation celebrations

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6 May 2023 beginning three days of celebrations.

The extended bank holiday weekend will provide many opportunities for everyone to come together to mark this special occasion with street parties and community events.

Any resident who is considering holding an event is being urged to think ahead as they may need permission for certain activities.

All applications for road closures should be made to Kent County Council by the deadline of Friday 3 March 2023.

Events that includes the sale of alcohol and certain forms of entertainment may also need a Premises Licence or a Temporary Event Notice from Sevenoaks District Council.

Anyone who wants to know more about making an application, funding opportunities and celebratory events over the Coronation weekend should visit www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/coronation.

Cllr Lesley Dyball, Sevenoaks District Council’s Cabinet Member for People and Places says: “For most of us, this will be the first Royal Coronation we will witness and what an amazing weekend it promises to be. As well as national events, there could be many local celebrations as neighbours and communities come together for this very special occasion.

“Anyone holding a street party or running certain other events should think about making their applications in the coming days and weeks so it's one less thing to think about.”
