Overview and background

The Government has told us we must produce a new Local Plan with proposals for new homes, infrastructure and space for businesses to meet our residents’ needs in future years. From the outset, we wanted to do everything possible to protect the District’s Green Belt.

Submission of the Sevenoaks District Council Local Plan

Following the period when representations were invited on the soundness of the submission version of the Local Plan (Regulation 19), our Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination on Tuesday 30 April 2019.

The Local Plan submission and examination documents can be viewed in the Examination Library, alongside other evidence based documents. Reference copies of the documentation can be viewed at our offices in Sevenoaks and in all libraries across the District. 

Following hearing sessions in September and October 2019, the Planning Inspector issued the final report in March 2020 in relation to the examination of the Sevenoaks District Local Plan, which can be viewed on the news and updates page. We are currently considering our next steps.
