As part of the Draft Local Plan preparation, we have been inviting residents, landowners, developers and businesses to put forward land to help meet the District’s future housing and infrastructure needs. This process is known as the Call for Sites.
So far, we have assessed over 400 potential development sites against our development strategy namely:
- Maximising densities in existing settlements
- Redeveloping sustainable brownfield sites in the Green Belt
- Developing greenfield sites in the Green Belt only where there are convincing exceptional circumstances
You can view the sites included in the Draft Local Plan consultation on our interactive map. These include potential sites for housing, employment, mixed use and gypsy and travellers pitches.
We have provided a Call for Site Index for all sites which have been submitted under the Call for Sites process up to October 2017. The index is organised by parish and indicates how each site has been assessed and where information for each site can be found.
If you submitted a site after October 2017, it will be included in the next update of the Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA) and the Local Plan due to be published in Autumn 2018.
