The next District Council and Town & Parish Council elections take place on Thursday 2 May 2019.
District Council Elections
These elections are held every four years. You will live in one of 26 ‘wards’ and, depending on the ward, you can vote for between one and three Councillors.
Town and Parish Council Elections
These elections are also held every four years. The number of seat on each council varies according to the population they serve. In some parishes, it is possible no elections will be held as there will only be enough candidates to fill the available seats.
Before the elections, you’ll receive a poll card with details of your polling station or absent vote arrangement.
If you do not think you are registered to vote, please visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. You must be registered to vote by midnight on Friday 12 April 2019 to vote at the District and Town and Parish Council elections.
Registration deadline - Friday 12 April 2019 – midnight
Postal vote application deadline – apply for a postal vote, cancel or amend an existing postal vote - Monday 15 April 2019 – 5pm
Proxy vote amendment deadline – to amend an existing proxy vote - Monday 15 April 2019 – 5pm
Proxy vote application deadline - Wednesday 24 April 2019 – 5pm
Election Day – Thursday 2 May 2019 - 7am to 10pm
