Types of building control applications

Please have all your information ready as an application needs to be made in one go.

Full Plans application

The most commonly used type of application and can be used for most types of building work and building use.

Requires the submission of drawings, specification of works and where relevant, structural calculations. Please have these ready before starting your application. These will be checked for compliance with the Building Regulations.

To submit an application you will need to pay a £50 non-refundable administration fee which will be deducted from the initial fee.

The total cost of the application to cover checking of the plans and carrying out site inspections will be calculated and a fee payment request made for the checking of the plans. The application will not be progressed until initial fee is paid.

On commencement of the work a second fee will be due to cover the cost of site inspections and the issuing of a completion certificate. An invoice will be issued to the client.

Regularisation

This is a special type of application and is only to be used where building work has been carried out without the submission of a full plans application or a building notice application or the serving of an Initial Notice by an Approved Inspector.

You may need to open up completed building works so we can see if the building regulations have been met.

There is no administration fee.

The total cost of the application will be calculated and a fee request will be made later.
