Council Tax Rebate

Page updated 17 May 2022

Earlier this year, the Government launched the Council Tax Rebate Scheme. Under the scheme, households who live in Council Tax Bands A to D properties are entitled to a one-off £150 payment to help with the rising cost of living.

The payment is available until 30 September 2022 and does not have to be repaid.

We are making the payments on behalf of the Government to eligible Sevenoaks District households.

How and when we will pay the money

During May, we paid the £150 Council Tax rebate to households in bands A to D who pay by Direct Debit.

If you pay the Council Tax by another method or you have an exemption (for example you are a student, claim full Council Tax support or have a mental impairment) you are still eligible for the payment. If this applies to you, we will write to you from 23 May about how to claim the money. You will have the option to provide your bank details so we can pay the money into your bank account. You can also choose to have the money taken off of your Council Tax bill.

If you are liable for the Council Tax, but you do not pay by Direct Debit, you may want to sign up. This will ensure the £150 payment reaches you quickly without having to fill in an extra form.
