Proposed new conservation area appraisals | Sevenoaks District Council

Proposed new conservation area appraisals

We are consulting on draft proposed conservation area appraisals for Eynsford, Farningham and Kemsing, in order to bring them up to date and make them more useful and accessible. As part of this reappraisal we have also reviewed the conservation area boundaries. The intention is to adopt the appraisals as Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs).

These appraisals will guide decisions on development proposals affecting the conservation areas and will help to protect what is special about these historic villages. We have updated the conservation area appraisal and boundary for each of the three areas, as well as the accompanying 'Introduction to Conservation Areas' and 'Conservation Area Design Guidance' documents.

The draft appraisals have benefitted from a walk-about and on-site discussions that were undertaken in the autumn of last year with Parish and District Councillors. These were of assistance in gathering evidence of character and appearance of the conservation areas and understanding the condition and issues affecting their future management.
