21 November 2008Since the introduction of parking charges by the train operating company at the Farningham Road station there has been parking displacement on to Station Road.
The western end of Station Road falls within the Borough of Dartford, whilst the remainder is within the Sevenoaks District.
Dartford Borough Council and Sevenoaks District Council have jointly developed proposals to address the parking problems, with the aims of improving the free flow of traffic on Station Road and improving visibility at the Station Road / Farningham Road junction.
The proposals have been circulated to residents for comment and have been adjusted to reflect the comments received. The details of the adjusted proposals are also available for download.

Formal Consultation
The District Council is now carrying out formal consultation in line with the statutory requirements. Notices of the proposed restrictions will be placed on-street and advertisements placed in the local newspapers.

The formal consultation process will start on 9th October 2008 and close on 3rd November 2008.
Statutory consultees include the emergency services, the Road Haulage Association, the Freight Transport Association, local bus companies, local Councillors, the parish or town council, Sustrans, the Cycle Touring Club. Additionally, local interest groups that have previously expressed an interest may also be consulted.

Paper copies of the Traffic Order, the Statement of Reasons and the plans will be available for viewing at the District Council offices in Argyle Road between the hours of 8.45am and 5pm (Monday to Thursday), 8.45am and 4.45pm (Friday).
