The Council now offers a National Countrywide bus permit allowing free travel throughout England at off-peak times.
Please note: Due to the high volume of applications we are currently receiving, please allow at least three weeks for receipt of your new pass.
Who can apply?
Any permanent resident within the Sevenoaks District Council area (this means that the Council Tax for where you live is paid to Sevenoaks District Council) who is a senior citizen (aged 60 or over).
Residents with one or more of the following disabilities are also eligible for a pass:
a) partially sighted or without sight
b) suffering from any disability that seriously impairs your ability to walk a distance of up to 100 metres
c) suffering from a learning disability that started before adulthood and that is a state of arrested or incomplete development of mind that includes significant impairment of intelligence and social functioning
d) refused a driving licence, or have had such a licence revoked on medical grounds (but not due to misuse of drugs / alcohol)
e) without speech or hearing
f) without the use of both arms

Where and when can the bus permit be used?
This bus pass is valid between 9.30am and 11pm on weekdays and at any time at weekends and on Bank Holidays. It can be used anywhere in England, including in the London Boroughs, but not in Scotland and Wales.
All valid travel with this permit will be free of charge.
The bus permit is valid from the 1 April 2008 until the 31 March 2011. Applications can only be processed by post.
Applying for a pass
You can download the National bus permit application form (
PDF File 36KB file details), print it off, complete it and send it back to the Council.
You will also need to provide a recent passport colour photograph with your surname and your postcode detailed on the back.

People with disabilities will need to provide proof of their address and disability with their application form. Please provide photocopies and not original documents. You can include for example:
If necessary, with your written permission, we can contact your own GP or other health professional for proof of your disability. In certain circumstances a companion bus permit can be issued. However, the issue of this permit is discretionary and will be the decision of Sevenoaks District Council.
