Public transport

Kent County Council is responsible for the maintenance of local highways, supporting some bus services, managing the network of public rights of way and local transport planning. Visit the Kent County Council website for more information about public transport.

To assist with planning your journey and reporting faults / complaints, we have put together some useful links for services provided within the Sevenoaks District, together with some national sources of information.


Journey planners

Traveline provide impartial and accurate information for planning your journey by bus, coach or train. You can search for timetables by service number, destination or postcode.

You can send a text message to Traveline (on 84268) for a link to its ‘NextBuses’ service, which can send times of next departures from any stop to your mobile internet browser.  You can also contact Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.

Transport Direct is a comprehensive Government website providing information that will help you to plan your journey by both car and public transport.

Bus stops and timetables

For enquiries concerning bus stops or timetable displays please contact Kent County Council's Public Transport team via their contact centre on 08458 247 247 or by email county.hall@kent.gov.uk.

To report damage to a bus stop please contact Kent Highway Services on 08458 247 800 or by email westkent.highways@kent.gov.uk


Bus shelters

Bus shelters across the District are either the responsibility of the individual parish or town council, or the District Council which maintains number of shelters on main routes.

For enquiries or to report a fault please contact the District Council on 01732 227000 or e-mail parkingandamenity@sevenoaks.gov.uk and we will either deal with the matter or advise who should be contacted.


National bus permits

The Concessionary bus fares scheme, also known as National Bus Passes, offer discounted travel on local public transport for older and disabled people. The scheme is administered locally by Kent County Council.

National Rail enquires provide information on train timetables and live running times. Alternatively call 08457 48 49 50.

Southeastern TrainsSouthern Trains and First Capital Connect operate train services in Sevenoaks District.

The Sussex Community Rail Partnership have produced a line guide for the Uckfield and East Grinstead lines, which serve Edenbridge Town, Hever and Cowden stations.

Walking and cycling

Kent has over 4,200 miles (6,700 km) of public footpaths, bridleways and byways in both rural and urban areas.  Depending on the classification of the route, these can be used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
