During severe weather, we’ll regularly update Sevenoaks District Council's twitter feed so you can get the latest news about the impact on services sent straight to your phone or computer. To sign up visit www.twitter.com/SDC_newsdesk or click on the twitter button.
In the event of snow or freezing weather, we will collect refuse from households where it's safe to do so.
Refuse vehicles weigh up to 26 tonnes and when visiting a road, we consider the risk of injury to the public and staff and damage to property, as well as the likelihood of becoming stuck, causing further disruption. In practice this means collections could be restricted to main roads, bus routes and other pre-salted roads.
If your refuse has not been collected by the end of today, please take your bags back in and put them out again next Monday, when we will collect them then.
Road and pavement gritting and clearing
Kent County Council is responsible for keeping roads and pavements safe during bad weather. For more information about road and pavement salting and snow clearance please visit the Kent County Council website.
Alternatively contact Kent County Council on 08458 247 800 or e-mail kent.highwayservices@kent.gov.uk.
Motorways and major trunk roads, including the A21, M20, M25 and M26, are managed by the Highways Agency and not Kent County Council.
At the request of KCC, we have deployed most of our street cleansing staff to clear snow in London Road and the High Street in Sevenoaks.
Additionally Sevenoaks District Council's car parks were ploughed and gritted yesterday and gritted again this morning by our winter standby crew.
