How are we doing?
Every three months, the Community Safety Partnership monitors progress on its 2005-2008 strategy.
Below is a summary of the latest progress report for January 2008 - March 2008

Working together over last year the Partnership reported the following progress up until March 2008:
- Sevenoaks district to have the lowest recorded crime statistics in Kent from August 2006. At the end of March 2008 compared to 06/07 there was a 15% reduction (1097 crimes).
- There are 6 crime types in the new 4% reduction target: Criminal Damage, Theft from Motor Vehicle, Wounding, Vehicle Interference, Theft from the Person and Other Theft. Compared to this time last year, there has been a reduction of 16.1% and 21% on the 2005/6 baseline figure.
- Neighbourhood Management was introduced which included EVA's (Environmental Visual Audits), PACTs (Partners and Community's Together), Police surgeries, Postcards and Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
- PACTs was rolled out across the District starting with a work shop with Brasted and sundridge and Ide Hill on 26th September 07. Since then Brasted and Sundridge with Ide Hill have had regular PACT Panel meetings. There has also been a full public consultation PACT meeting in Dunton Green and Hextable with follow up meetings planned in May 08 and September 08.
- EVA's are areas which have been identified in which improvements by the community and the partnership can be made such as litter, anti-social behaviour and crimial damage. There have been 2 EVA's in swanley and 2 in New Ash Green, both of which came out with sucessful action plans.
- Deliberate fires have decreased from 270 07/08 to 189 for this year, producing a very healthy reduction. The target figure was 259 which shows a significant reduction. This by far exceeds target.
- 35 young people have been referred to the Power Project this year.
- 57 people were referred to the ASB task group. Between April and March, 52 people have been removed within 6 months due to an improvement in their behaviour. This equals 91%.
- Two ABAs (Actual Behaviour Agreement's) were signed in March.
- There are currently 6 individuals on the Catch and Convict programme of the IPPO criteria. They continue to be monitored with updates provided monthly and actions taken forward. There is currently 1 individual on the Rehabilitate and Resettle strand of the IPPO scheme.
- The IPPO meetings have been amalgamated into each district's ASB Task Group and will begin in April 2008.
- There were 19 operations dedicated to Sevenoaks Nighttime economy and drug use. Total results to date: 8 persons arrested, 30 Intel reports, 30 searches, 7 seizures, 4 alcohol seizures, 632 persons scanned using ion track, 37 premises swabbed using ion track (advice packs given), 4 individuals referred to treatment, 20+ warrants executed and 114 (West Kent) persons arrested for class A drugs.Regular Grimebuster meetings have been organised across West Kent.
- 2007/08 - 854 fly tipping incidents reported [a 29% increase on 2006/07] Average time from report to removal for the year, 6.5 working days. Average time from report to removal over the last quarter, 2.4 working days. Action plan in place to keep to target of removing fly tipped waste within 5 working days, report to removal.
- The Edenbridge and Otford Clinics half day alcohol clinic are currently running at capacity, with an additional clinic being run in Swanley, which is also running at capacity.
- 483 young people have been seen by the Substance Misuse Youth Worker via lunch time drop ins. DISP and ASP programme and detached youth work.
- There are currently 23 PCSOs and a PCSO Supervisor working across Sevenoaks District. There are also 7 KCC Community Wardens and a Senior Warden.
- Letters and Posters warning of proxy sales haven been rolled out to licensed premises in the District by PCSO's.
- 2007/08 - 35 vehicles abandoned - [58% reduction on 06/07], 84 vehicles voluntarily surrendered - [46% reduction on 06/07], 110 vehicles removed by Operatin Cubit, 87% of abandoned vehicles removed within 24 hours, 80% of abandoned vehicles removed within 24 hours.
- An alcohol week was piloted at Hextable School. It ran over 3 days and was delivered to Year 10 students.
- CDAP programme started in July 2007 for perpetrators of Domestic Abuse. The 29 week rolling project which covers 9 modules supports men in the community as well as men on Probation orders. Since it started there have been 10 men attending the programme with 4 completions.
- Freedon Programme for women who suffer from Domestic Abuse was rolled out in Swanley in January 2008.
Partnership sucesses within the Community Safety Strategy and Action Plan
- The use of CCTV, working with schemes such as the safer shopping initiative, Pubwatch and shopsafe. Figures for the year 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2008 show 238 arrests.
- The 8 - 12s project in Swanley, New Ash Green and Greatness in sevenoaks.
- The power Project, an innovative Sevenoaks District Community Safety Partnership initiative responding to the Sevenoaks PSA which aims to reduce the number of young people entering the Youth Justice System. The project is already being rolled out to offer community safety partnership areas
- Various press release to keep resident informed and reduce the fear of crime with positive stories.
