In the Zone smashes attendance record!

News release issued on 02 September 2010

Young people in the District have managed to beat last years highest attendance levels in a record breaking summer of games, skills and fun.

This year a grand total of 2,450 children from all over the District turned up to take part in Sevenoaks District Council's In the Zone Family Fun Days making this year's programme the most successful to date!

The Council's Youth Zone team visited 22 locations around the District providing a mix of team games, face painting, arts and crafts and family activities for all to enjoy. Every week over 500 young people turned up and joined in.

Some of the most popular days and events included Hollybush Recreation Ground in Sevenoaks offering Go-kart Grand Prix, Otford for it's science experiments and Edenbridge where people could take a shot at archery.

Photos will be put on the website from each week of events so younger residents can relive their record breaking summer!

Cllr Pat Bosley, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for young people, says: "It's such a good feeling to have this amazing turn out for our In the Zone Family Fun Days programme. It gave younger residents a chance to enjoy a mixed range of activities in a safe and fun environment. Even though the weather had it's ups and downs there was always a constant wave of families coming along to each event. I would like to thank all involved for making this year's In the Zone programme so successful."

There is also a collection of lost property from the summer. Young people who have lost any items at a Youth Zone event should contact the Council on 01732 227000 or e-mail youthmail@sevenoaks.gov.uk.
