Swanley residents get Naturally Active

News release issued on 22 October 2010

Swanley residents can improve their health and wellbeing through activities and time in the countryside with the health initiative, Naturally Active.

Naturally Active is particularly suited for those who find exercise intimidating or are currently not keen on keeping fit. The walks last up to an hour-and-a-half and provide gentle exercise for all ages and abilities. Each walk will be lead by a trained and qualified professional.

The free walks are taking place now, starting at 1.30pm every Wednesday at White Oak Leisure Centre reception, up to and including Wednesday 24 November. The walk offers an opportunity to socialise with others while keeping healthy and receiving support on the path to getting active.

Transport will be needed to attend most of the walks and can be provided, however this would need to be booked in advance. Not all walks will take place in Swanley.

Naturally Active is organised by North West Kent Countryside Partnership and is supported by Sevenoaks District Council.

Cllr Pat Bosley, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for healthy living, says: "Gentle exercise in the countryside and fresh air can help improve health and wellbeing and reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Sevenoaks District has some amazing views and they should be enjoyed. This free course will help you lose weight and enhance wellbeing, it's an opportunity not to be missed."

For more information and to arrange transport, please contact Rebecca Perkins at Sevenoaks District Council on 01732 227000.
