Canvassers knock on doors for electoral reminder

With District and town and parish council elections taking place next May, Sevenoaks District Council canvassers will be knocking on the doors of those who are yet to respond to their voter registration forms to make sure they don't forfeit their right to vote.

The canvassers team are currently operating across the Sevenoaks District and will do so up until 5 November 2010. All canvassers will carry Council identification, which should be checked by residents.

Residents are able to complete the voter registration form at the door and it will be returned to the Council by the canvasser.

Even where there are no changes, the law requires the details on the electoral register to be confirmed on an annual basis.
 
The final deadline for information to be received by Sevenoaks District Council is 22 November, this allows time for the annual revised publication of the register of electors which will be issued on 1 December 2010.
