Westerham residents given money saving opportunity

News release issued on 07 October 2010

Some residents in Westerham, Sundridge and Brasted will be receiving some good news on how to save money when HeatSeeker experts visit poorly insulated homes to give advice on discounted insulation.

Following a thermal survey of 13,000 homes in the District, HeatSeeker surveyors have now identified houses which may be lacking cavity wall or loft insulation and will be visiting homeowners in Westerham, and surrounding areas, to show them a thermal image of their property.

Surveyors will give residents information about energy saving measures and how much they could save on heating bills by better insulating their home.

The HeatSeeker vehicles use state-of-the-art technology to identify homes which may benefit from improved insulation. The technology only detects heat and cannot see through walls or windows.

The HeatSeekers scheme has been developed with the Energy Saving Partnership and is supported by Sevenoaks District Council.

Cllr Carol Clark, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for energy efficiency, says: "The thermal technology used by HeatSeekers can really benefit homeowners and tenants by revealing where energy is being lost. Surveyors can give advice on measures to reduce carbon emissions from the property, which would also help to reduce heating bills. I recommend homeowners take up this opportunity."
