Residents who want to shape up and improve their fitness can join a free weekly health walk, which take participants through the picturesque grounds of Knole Park.
The free health walk starts at 10.30am every Thursday at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre and will last 45 minutes which includes a journey around Knole Park before finishing at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre. That is enough time to burn off approximately 160 to 200 calories.
Everyone will be made welcome and encouraged to walk at their own pace. Participants should dress appropriately according to the weather and wear sensible, comfortable footwear. People with wheelchairs are welcome and must be accompanied.
Cllr Pat Bosley Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for healthy living, says: "Walking is a fun, free way to keep fit and great for meeting new people in your local community. The combination of exercise and socialising has been demonstrated to help both physical and mental wellbeing."
Val Miller, Assistant Director of Public Health at NHS West Kent, adds: "Moderate physical exercise regularly can do wonders for your health, from reducing the risk of heart disease to improving your energy levels. Walks like this are a great way of building some exercise into your day in an enjoyable and sociable way."
