Match of the day as Swanley residents get cooking

News release issued on 19 February 2010

Male residents living in Swanley can learn how to be a star player in the kitchen by taking part in a cooking course.

Residents with an interest for food can take part in a programme which is designed to give men, who would not normally cook for themselves, the opportunity to learn basic cooking skills.

Men of all ages can sign up and find out just how easy it is, even on a budget, and how making small changes to eating habits can have a big impact.

The course begins on 6 March and lasts for four weeks. Each session takes place every Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm at Swanley Technology College, St. Mary's Road, Swanley.

The course costs £10 per person which will cover the whole four weeks and participants receive a free recipe book at the end of the course. Places are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis and due to the expected high demand participants are asked to commit to attending all four weeks of the course.

Cllr Pat Bosley Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for healthy living, says: "This is a great opportunity to help male residents learn in a fun way the importance of a good diet. We are hoping this project will encourage some healthy eating habits while enjoying a new and useful hobby."
