Youngsters go 'Weald' in the country

News release issued on 31 August 2010

Over 50 young residents from all over the District enjoyed seven exciting days of fun activities at Rock UK, Halls Green from 14 August.

The Halls Green Adventure Centre was booked for the week with young people from Sevenoaks, Swanley and New Ash Green taking part in the stimulating exercises on offer. The trip was organised as part of Sevenoaks District Council's '8-12s' project, providing children with recreational and educational opportunities.

The trip involved a whole range of exciting and adventurous activities including canoeing, swimming, barbecues, assault courses and campfire entertainment. All activities took place in the beautiful rural setting of the Weald of Kent.

Cllr Pat Bosley, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for young people, says: "The project provides young people with the opportunity to make new friends, to try out new and exciting activities and experiences, in a safe and friendly way. It also gives the children a chance to visit places that they may never have been given the chance to go to."

As part of the development of the Centre's Owl Barn, which was funded by Sevenoaks District Council, Halls Green Adventure Centre agreed to make a limited amount of places available to local youth groups for free.
