Time is counting down to the date when thousands of residents of the District will be able to take advantage of a very rare offer at their local pubs, a drink and a vote!
On 4 June the County Council and European elections take place, and this year five pubs across the District are doubling up as polling stations.
The Rock Inn in Chiddingstone Hoath, the Fighting Cocks in Horton Kirby, the Lamb Inn in Swanley Village, the Birchwood in Swanley and the Wheatsheaf in Bough Beech will offer around 2,000 residents the chance to have a quick drink after casting their vote.
Anyone visiting these pubs, or numerous other pubs in the District, should also keep their eyes open for election beer mats, specially distributed by Sevenoaks District Council to selected pubs across the District in the past few weeks.
There will also be a few new polling stations at the forthcoming elections, one of which is the Wheatsheaf pub in Bough Beech, replacing the village hall.
The Dynes residential nursing home replaces St. Edith Hall as the new polling station for electors of Kemsing West (Kemsing East electors continue to vote at St. Edith Hall) and voters in the East Hill polling area (in West Kingsdown) will now need to visit Woodlands Church Hall on Tinkerpot Lane, rather than East Hill Barn.
The address of the polling station where a resident can vote is displayed on their 'polling card', which was sent out earlier this month.
The beer mats have been funded by Central Government, and local people are encouraged to give their feedback on them by e-mailing elreg@sevenoaks.gov.uk
