Fruit and vegetable bingo and healthy snakes and ladders were on the menu recently for a group of young people from Edenbridge.
Thirteen children from the Edenbridge Beavers all enjoyed some healthy eating advice when the ‘Fun with Food’ team visited their beavers group last week (Monday 18 May).
During the free hour long event, the participants found out more about the benefits healthy eating can bring and took part in plenty of fun activities and games based around healthy eating.
Cllr Pat Bosley, Sevenoaks District Council Cabinet member with responsibility for healthy living, says: "These workshops are a great way to let children learn about the numerous benefits eating fruit and vegetables can bring in a fun and creative way. They’re totally free as well, so if you would like the team to visit your school or group let us know."
The ‘Fun with Food’ initiative has been organised by Sevenoaks District Council and is funded by NHS West Kent as part of the National Choosing Health agenda which aims to make healthy choices easier.
The ‘Fun with Food’ team can visit any school or group. For further information call 01732 227000, e-mail healthyliving@sevenoaks.gov.uk or visit the health section of the Council website.
