Dunton Green residents take 'PACT'ion'!

News release issued on 08 May 2009

Dunton Green residents have helped establish a range of actions to tackle local issues and improve their community since the launch of an innovative initiative just over a year ago.

In March 2008, the first Dunton Green PACT meeting was held to enable the community to help determine local priorities and get involved in action in the village.

PACT stands for Partners and Community Together, and the PACT panel, made up of local people and representatives from the Sevenoaks District Community Safety Partnership, meet every couple of months to discuss any concerns they may have.

So far actions to have come out of the PACT meetings include:

Robin Hales, Chairman of the Sevenoaks District Council Community Safety Partnership, says: "PACT Panels are an excellent way for local people to raise important issues that may not otherwise be heard about. They have been a real success, and it is great to see representatives from the Police, the Parish Council, District Council and many other agencies working with residents for the good of the local area."

Anyone interested in attending can contact Tracy Godden at the Parish Council for details of the next PACT meeting by calling 01732 462966 or e-mailing clerk@dgpc.org.uk.

PACT Panels are organised by the Sevenoaks District Community Safety Partnership which brings together all the agencies in the District that can have an impact on crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of crime.

The Partnership includes Kent Police, Kent County Council, the Youth Offending Service, the Primary Care Trust, representatives of the Voluntary Sector, West Kent Housing Association, Moat Housing, Kent Fire & Rescue Service, the National Probation Service and Sevenoaks District Council.
